Media/Publications

In my work, I seek to consider the various modes in which paper-based and digital media inscriptions, the everyday practices of technical and bureaucratic labor, and the complex dynamics of rainforest themselves interact and collapse into each other across time and space. I am particularly interested in how our ways of thinking about objectivity and information come to be problematized in the space of the rainforest. By following engineers and bureaucrats as they confront and seek to represent rainforests, I wonder, is it possible to draw strict distinctions between affect and cognition, aesthetic contemplation and logical reasoning, form and content? I think the answer to this question is critical to consider many of the main political and ethical issues of our time.
